Queerdos is a trans-disciplinary performative ensemble comprised of 10 fixed members working on and behind the stage and focusing on initiating discourses and dialogues around LGBTQI+ issues. We have diverse artistic backgrounds and are committed to amplifying our queer and migrant voices in a city which is facing a rise in hate crimes against trans* and LGBT individuals.
By featuring artists who belong to queer and marginalised communities in Berlin as well as in other cities where queer politics are often a non-issue to political leaders,we are interested in making a small scale impact and buoying our own communities. Our performances and workshops aim to give voice to these communities which are
often under-represented and overlooked.„Queerdos“ started out in April 2018 as a curated queer spoken word event in Berlin and has since showcased 40+ Berlin-based queer performance artists. As of April 2019, we are working as a fixed ensemble and crew featuring guest performers; as an ensemble and have been developing a hybrid performance style with both theatre and spoken word performance elements,in line with the beliefs that we promote. So far, most of our projects have been self or community-funded. However, with the support of MitOst, we received support from the Berlin Senat which generated the development of the Queerdos RESISTANCE workshop and performance in September 2019 in Budapest, tackling the possibility of a queer resistance against far-right ideologies in Hungary.
